Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre provides spaces, supports for local seniors
LLOYDMINSTER — A new 60-bed continuing care facility, opening today, will help meet the growing and changing needs for local seniors care.
The Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre replaces a 55-bed long-term care wing, built in 1972 at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, and adds five additional continuing care spaces to the community. Fifty long-term care beds remain at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, in a wing built in 1992, and will continue to serve Lloydminster and area.
“Our government understands how important it is to people to be able to age in their homes and communities,” says Sarah Hoffman, Minister of Alberta Health. “This new centre means people from Lloydminster and area can be close to family and friends while receiving excellent care in a more home-like setting.”
“The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to partner with Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Prairie North Health Region (PNHR) to ensure that the health care needs of the people of Lloydminster and area are met,” adds Lloydminster MLA Colleen Young, on behalf of Saskatchewan Health Minister Dustin Duncan.“This new long-term care facility is providing quality care to residents and families of this unique community.”
Long-term care is designed specifically for individuals with complex, often unpredictable medical needs. The Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre offers health and personal care supports in private rooms with the added security of having professional nursing care and support staff available on-site 24-hours a day.
Such assistance is valuable to seniors and adults with disabilities, not only in Lloydminster but from the surrounding area, says Sherie Allen, Senior Operating Officer, North, with AHS Central Zone.
“This is a wonderful addition for the community,” says Allen. “This new facility provides the community with more beds to support local residents in remaining as close to home as possible while receiving the health care and support they need as they age.”
The Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre is part of a $34.2-million project that provides not only the new continuing care centre for the community, but also the construction of a small addition to support service areas at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre.
While the new facility is owned by AHS, it will be operated by Saskatchewan’s PNHR, providing care to area residents on both sides of the provincial border.
“We have a unique health care partnership that helps us meet the health care needs in the growing border city and surrounding area,” says PNHR Board Chair Bonnie O’Grady.
“As the population continues to increase and age, the demand for continuing care also continues to increase each year. The Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre is an important step in meeting that demand. This facility provides residents with the necessary, quality care they need, in an environment that supports them in maintaining the highest quality of life possible.”

a couple of ways that improved it.
Firstly, it was long and had too many quote from 3 separate people.
Optimizing it for the web included using pull quotes, headings and a better
title. I further improved the article by including my contact information and
the long link to increase SEO.
I also added an image to encourage distribution and social
engagement. To further social sharing I included three hashtags, which is all new for

The
