Wow, I can't believe that the in class portion of EXSM 3988 is already finished! The past 2 days flew by, and I am exhausted. I learnt so so much, but need a little bit of time to digest of all of this information.
I managed to tweet more than I ever have in a 2 day span, post to an existing blog, create my own blog, re-create a news release and begin to create a Facebook page.
Thanks for all of the support Jess and classmates!

Selfie Intro Post
I decided on a 'surroundings selfie' (my own term). I tend to be drawn towards snapshots of someone's life (eg. Instagram). Whether it be actual photos of people or snippets of one's surroundings. I find that photos that do not necessarily show faces but instead their surrounding environment can communicate more about a person.
Selfie Intro Activity
Here is my awkward Class Selfie....I'm all ready to go and learn more about Effective Social Media Communication!
I took the photo using my i-phone and sent it to directly to my e-mail, no filter applied.

Selfie Intro Post - Anne
This is my selfie. I took the picture using my cell phone, applied a filter, then emailed to myself and posted it to the blog.

This photo is taken in class to show all the hard working, self motivated classmates who are eager to learn more about social media from our awesome social media specialist/ teacher Dr Jessica Laccetti

Selfie Intro Activity
My friend once told me that she finds selfies fascinating because the picture is like a window into seeing how others view themselves.

| In-class selfie! |
My personal selfie-taking procedure is: Camera slightly up and to the right. Look up enough to avoid the double-chin but not enough for the shadow of my glasses to make it look like I've got a unibrow. Widen my eyes. Smile a touch. Raise my eyebrows. Click the button. Adjust expression. Take another picture. Repeat as needed.
Then, having chosen my desired picture, I open it in Instagram and play with filters. Choose my cross-post settings, type a witty caption, and voila!
Okay, maybe that's a lot of work for one little picture of my face but heeeyyyy selfie-esteem!
Intro Selfie Activity
Caffeinated and logged in! Opted to take a photo of this rather than a traditional selfie because I don't do them well and I haven't found the optimal 'filter' yet!

Selfie Intro Post
I decided to take this selfie because it’s not really a
selfie. I’ve heard that more people die taking selfies than getting struck by
lightning. And I’m not taking that risk! Plus, I think it represents this class
because it showcases my lovely Twitter profile – with a pic from China that
further represents the international nature of social media applications.
How to Make Links (in Comments) Clickable!!
When you write a comment on a blog you don't have access to the HTML view, so if you are writing a link and want to make it live (clickable), this is the code you need to include:

In-Class Sessions Thursday & Friday
And so the countdown is slowing...it is just one more sleep until our face-to-face session tomorrow.
Just a note, if you there is something you are really interested in, do tweet me and include the class hashtag. There have been a few people so far and I've marked down your questions to cover tomorrow in our Twitter session.
So, as you know, our in-class time will be an opportunity to do the practical side of the theory we have been reading. We will work with Twitter and try out some advanced "secret" hacks. We will aim to spend the morning on Twitter. Then, after lunch, we will get stared on our optimised news release and finish by spending the rest of the afternoon on our own blogs. After showing you some great tips and tricks, you will have the opportunity to create your very own blog (not just a blog post) and kit it out with all the widgets that you could want/need.
